Black&blue

 As winds rage outside and snow covers slushy streets with pristine white,

 I intend to stay in bed. Firmly put! This kind of masculine bedroom would
certainly make me feel sheltered...I find the black&blue color combo calming
and evocative of the twilight hour.

Have you ever wandered around an artist's studio, observing the mysterious pots and bottles,
 brushes, books and figurines? Or felt the textures of the fabric and leather in a clothes'
 designer's atelier? Didn't you also feel a slight pinch of envy? I usually do: those who have
mastered an art or craft seem to belong to some secret society that ordinary folks
will never understand... Here I've posted a few inspiring studios and home offices that
make me want to get out my pencils and scissors.

Something that really irritates me: badly displayed art. Why cover the walls of

your living room with expensive paintings if they only create visual dissonance?

Why not make the best of your investment?.. To me it seems common sense that a

 work of art should be in co-ordinance with other objects, in such a way that

 its effect is maximized. Up to a point, admittedly: in the interior below I've

detected an attempt at matching painting and...dog. Hilarious!

Kam užgriozdinti svetainės sieną brangiu paveikslu, jei jis ten netinka? Reikia

gerbti savo investiciją! Tapybos, fotografijos ir kiti kūriniai turėtų būti derinami 

prie kitų erdvėje esančių objektų - taip, kad būtų padidintas meno kūrinio

efektas. Žinoma, iki tam tikros ribos: štai nuotraukoje viršuje tariuosi

 įžvelgusi bandymą suderinti paveikslą ir...šunelį.

Here's a store I'd love to visit if I were in Paris. Interior designer Sarah Lavoine

certainly has that French touch! Love the juxtaposition of black and pastel and the
quirky-girly feel.

 

Jei būčiau Paryžiuje, aplankyčiau šį žaismingą interjero saloną. Interjero
 dizainerė Sarah Lavoine išties turi tą prancūzišką "je ne sais quoi". Man
patinka, kaip ji drąsiai derina juodą su pasteliniais atspalviais. Jos interjerai
 turi tokią sunkiai apibūdinamą mergaitišką ir lengvai ekscentrišką atmosferą.

 

Getting the hang of it



For those who shiver at the thought of folding and ironing clothes, the
clothes rack is a great invention. The really lazy types (like me) will find
it very convenient in the bedroom (a large one - I am picturing a vast
warehouse loft bedroom...) I'd like an industrial metal rack on wheels
or a scultpural piece like the one in Hannah Lemholt's photograph.

Tiems, kas nemėgsta lankstyti ir lyginti drabužių, kabykla yra puikus
 išradimas. Tikrieji tinginiai (kaip aš) juos stato miegamajame (t.y. jei šis
didelis...įsivaizduoju erdvų lofto miegamąjį). Tikrai neatsisakyčiau
 kabyklos iš metalinių vamzdžių su ratukais, arba skulptūriškos kaip
 Hannos Lemholt nuotraukoje.
