So the kitchen is underway. I find its skeleton so beautiful I wish we didn't have to put shelves

in it... This small but functional unit will consist of a basic metal frame with ash shelves

and four very old drawers from very old built-in wardrobe - they were too good to

throw away!

 

 

Virtuvė pakeliui! Man metaliniai jos griaučiai tokie gražūs, kad net nesinori į juos dėti lentynų...

Šią nedidelę, bet funkcionalią virtuvę sudarys metalinė konstrukcija, uosinės lentynos

ir seni stalčiai iš senos sieninės spintos, kurie mums pasirodė per geri, kad būtų išmesti.

 

 

Making an entrance

These entryways turn entering the house into a memorable event.

My favorite is probably designer Jean Louis' Deniot Parisian apartment: with

marble walls, a fantastic retro cabinet and that enormous b&w photograph.

The hallway in Ellen DeGeneres home right after is a more relaxed but still

 impressive affair with lots of African art and an amazing carpet.

And I love the way textures and colors are played with in the past image;

the wallpaper is fantastic.

Man labiausiai patinka dizainerio Jean Louis Deniot paryžietiškas prieškambaris:

marmuro sienos ir grindys, nuostabūs retro baldai, skulptūros ir didžiulė juodai balta

nuotrauka... Iškart po juo - laidų vedėjos Ellen DeGeneres prieškambaris su afrikietiškais

meno kūriniais ir įspūdingu kilimu; nors ir didelis, jis atrodo jaukus. O paskutiniame

paveikslėlyje labai žaismingai suderintos spalvos ir tekstūros; norėčiau tokių tapetų.

It seems that there isn't much to it: you take a rustic wood table,
 a few modern chairs, throw in a couple of industrial lamps and
tadam! - here's your modern rustic kitchen. If only it were that easy.
We have been struggling with our version for weeks now.

Today is a beautiful, beautiful day.

I want a picnic out in the fields under an old tree. I'd soak up

the last generous rays of the sun and soothe the summer departure blues
 with cool white wine and a fragrant pear and plum crumble...

Shiny shiny legs of metal

I've been flirting with the idea of metal dining chairs for ages.

Some days I love the edgy look of shiny metal, others it feels cold

and uninviting. Metal legs and leather seat seem like a compromise,

but affordable ones are so hard to find!

 

Also love the ones with rattan seats, as seen in the last image -

 they seem more inviting to the touch. According to the latest Elle Decoration UK,

furniture that combines very different materials is now all the rage...



 

Nuevo estilo

 

Jau seniai flirtuoju su metalinių kėdžių valgomajame idėja.

Bet kartais metalo spindesys atrodo modernus ir stilingas, o

kartais - tiesiog šaltas ir nemielas. Versijos su metalinėmis kojomis

ir odine viršutine dalimi būtų kompromisas, bet surasti tokias

už įkandamą kainą - nelengva užduotis!

 

Taip pat simpatizuoju metalinėms kėdėms su pintomis dalimis, kaip

paskutinėje nuotraukoje; jos atrodo jaukiau. Be to, anot naujausio

Elle Decoration UK, itin skirtingų medžiagų derinimas dabar labai madingas...

Dark and light

Hello September.

Can't say I'm too happy to have you back.

I dread the dark evenings...

 

Yet with each new season there is a sense of a new beginning. 

Feels like playing hopscotch on black&white tiles: from a black tile on to white, 

then back again... a constant interchange of dark and light.

Nepasakyčiau, kad labai tavęs pasiilgau.

Bijau tamsių vakarų...

 

Visgi kaskart, prasidėjus naujam sezonui, kyla šioks

toks jaudulys. Jausmas, kyg žaistume "klases" ant juodai-baltų plytelių: nuo

juodos ant baltos, ir atgal... Nesibaigiantis tamsos ir šviesios žaismas.
