I decided to post on this topic at a reader's request.
She was asking if we were satisfied with our concrete kitchen
countertop, and the truth is, we love it and highly
recommend this material.
What's great about it? Pretty much everything.
Concrete surfaces look good, are practical
(you don't see every single finger print and bread crumble),
aren't too expensive. You can choose from a range of colors,
have the surface polished or left pretty raw (these are not very easy
to clean however). If you fear that concrete might look too industrial,
remember - cozyness is in the details (It's amazing what
