A couple of streamlined pieces of furniture in my grandparents'
home as I was growing up can hardly account for my fascination
with mid-century design.

Soviet furniture offered but glimpses of what in the West was a whole
new revolutionary aesthetic. I love the lightness and elegance of
lines, the peculiar colors (all that mustard!)
and especially - the leather furniture.

Jaučiu tarsi kažkokią nostalgiją praeito amžiaus vidurio dizainui,
nors užaugau tarp itin neišvaizdžių masinės produkcijos baldų, kuriuos
tais laikais turėjo visi. Sovietiniame pokario baldų dizaine vargu ar galima
įžvelgti tai, kas Vakaruose buvo visiškai nauja, revoliucinė estetika.
Mane žavi šių baldų lengvumas, linijų elegancija ir specifinė spalvų
paletė (tiek daug garstyčių!) Bet jaučiu ypač didelę silpnybę
odiniams to meto baldams.
