This is something I've been dreaming of lately: a quiet room, a book. Scented candles
and mint tea... I would prefer it to be evening and the curtains to be drawn.
I wonder wether these charming daybeds are suitable for such recreational reading.
They don't have backrests and trying to stay upright on a few cushions might be more
tiresome that pleasant. I suppose they are intended for lounging with a cocktail and
chatting to fashionable friends rather than reading Tolstoy with a cup of tea... At least that's
how the Romans used them, I guess. I imagine it should do one a lot of good to lie
down a couple of times a day - simply to rest and meditate on something pleasant.

Paskutiniu metu svajoju apie štai tokį derinį: tylų kambarį, knygą, kvapias žvakes ir mėtų
arbatą. Dar norėčiau, kad būtų vakaras ir sunkios užuolaidos būtų užtrauktos.
Žiūrėdama į tokias kušetes svarstau, ar jos tinka skaitymui - juk nėra atramos nugarai ir
bandymai išsilaikyti patogioje pozoje ant keleto pagalvėlių vargu ar bus malonūs.
Panašu, kad šie baldai skirti daugiau gulinėjimui su kokteiliu, plepant su madingais draugais,
negu kad svajingam Tolstojaus pasiskaitymui su mėtų arbata. Na, bent jau romėnai jas
taip naudojo... Manau, įprotis prigulti kelioms minutėms porą kartų dienoje - tiesiog
pailsėti ir pamedituoti apie ką nors malonaus - būtų visiems naudingas.
